"There are only two worthwhile things to leave behind when you depart this world of ours: children and art." Stephen Sondheim
I'm a portrait artist residing in Richmond, VA and have been drawing faces my whole life, now a half century! I'd be honored to be given the opportunity to draw your little one's portrait, or yours, or even your beloved pet's. Lately I've been especially in love with the idea of drawing and painting mothers and/or fathers with their young children and babies, so please contact me if this is of interest to you. These days I'm happily in the process of building a new, more focused direction for my work and would very much celebrate your being a part of that if it is of interest to you.
Process of Commissioning a Portrait:
Contact me via text or email and tell me what you're envisioning for your portrait. We'll then schedule to take photos to use as reference for the art. Lately I've been working more from life, and this may be a possibility for older children or adults. Once we've decided on a pose, I require a 25% deposit. Balance is due upon completion.
Fees:
* Pencil, Charcoal and Conte head study/bust start at $850 for new customers and will be fully framed at completion with champagne colored frame and warm white mat with a French line. Pencils tend to be smaller than life size approximately 11" x 14" and 17" x 20" matted and framed. Charcoals are usually a bit larger and close to life-size approximately 16" x 20" and about 22" x 26" matted and framed. Larger drawings are $1250 and up.
* Pastel head study/busts are about life size or a little smaller and will come fully framed with museum glass, wrapped linen mat and Larson Juhl frame approximately 20" x 24" and are $2500.
3/4 Pastel Portraits are approximately 24" x 36" , unframed, and start at $3500. Larger renditions are $4000 and up.
Child Portrait Sculptures are now being offered by commission in Terra Cotta for $3500. We will need a couple of two hour sittings and will also take photos. The sculpture will be completed within a week of the final sitting and will need to thoroughly dry before firing. Drying time can take up to two months.
